of course you would rate a country by it’s diet coke. I’ll have to find you a diet coke can in china to see what you think. although I do think the can is very spiffy. The chinese name for coke is 可口可乐 which directly translates to if you’re thirsty, it’ll make you happy! I actually read a book about how companies like McDs and Coke decide to translate their names into chinese and the subliminal meaning by the characters they chose that still need to sound similar phonetically, it’s pretty interesting. I haven’t had coke in china, but McD’s in china is far superior to the states. it’s not oversalted and greasy but pretty tasty.

See the thing is, when they were in Chinese she attemped a lot less chinese. i believe only a ni hao (hello in chinese). And here’s where the prejudice comes in. People assume because its a Western language its easier, and while that may be true in some cases, it does not mean you can entirely sacrifice the accent, as most do.
